Westside Ale Works

Welcome to Westside Ale Works – where West Coast inspiration meets local craft.

Founded in 2016, with the South Melbourne taproom opening in 2019, Westside Ale Works is an independent craft brewery built on a love of flavour-forward beer, community, and good times.

Originally established by Casey Wagner, whose roots on the U.S. West Coast shaped the brewery’s hop-driven influence and warehouse-style taproom, Westside has remained true to its laid-back, approachable ethos since day one. In 2024, ownership passed to Jonathan Treloar, who continues to evolve the brewery while honouring its West Coast foundations.

Westside’s tap list features 20 taps in total – 16 pouring Westside beers and 4 rotating guest taps showcasing standout local and international breweries. The range spans crisp lagers, pale ales, IPAs, dark beers, and seasonal releases, with small-batch brewing keeping the lineup fresh and exciting.

For those keen to explore, tasting paddles are available with 4 x 150ml pours, making it easy to sample a variety of styles in one visit.

Alongside beer, Westside also offers a selection of spirits, wine, and soft drinks, paired with freshly made American-style pizzas and shareable snacks – with pizza dough made on site using Westside beer.

Inspired by the microbreweries of the U.S. West Coast and ground in the South Melbourne community, Westside Ale Works is a relaxed, welcoming destination for beer lovers and casual drinkers alike.
